Slow-wave sleep is a phase of normal sleep determined by the brain activity on an electroencephalograph. It is observed during NREM sleep. The frequency of the brain waves is low, as its name suggests. The waves have a frequency that is usually less than 8 Hz. On the contrary, the amplitude of the waves is high.
