Idiopathic Central Alveolar Hypoventilation

Home Idiopathic Central Alveolar Hypoventilation
Central hypoventilation syndrome refers to superficial breathing due to the inability of the nervous system to regulate breathing. These patients often have other medical conditions as well. For example, those with congenital central hypoventilation syndrome may also have Hirschprung's disease, which is caused by a deficiency in nerve cells of the intestines. Nerve cell tumors are also more common in these patients.
