Active Sleep

Home Active Sleep
Active sleep, which is one of the sleep phases, is where people's eyelids flicker with rapid movements and dream. In scientific terminology, the equivalent of active sleep is rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. When falling asleep, the person first enters the Non-REM phase, then the REM phase follows. Active sleep lasts longer in the morning, and therefore most dreams occur in the morning.
