The state of light sleep that lasts about 1 to 15 seconds is called microsleep. As a result of EEG measurements, it was understood that microsleep was similar to the second phase of a normal sleep cycle. In the second stage of sleep, the heart rate slows down, and body temperature drops. Now the brain is ready to go into a deep sleep. However, unlike the 2nd stage, when we are in microsleep, our brain cannot transition to deep sleep due to stimuli from the environment or some social conditions.
