Sleep Attacks / Cataplexy

Home Sleep Attacks / Cataplexy
Sudden loss of muscle tone in an awake person is called cataplexy. The body's muscles are usually contracted, allowing one to stand up straight. A cataplexy episode can happen spontaneously, or a positive or negative emotion can trigger it. Sometimes a sudden sleep may follow after cataplexy, called narcolepsy type 1.
