Abnormal sleep behavior is abnormal movements, speech, emotions, or other actions that occur during sleep. The partner or parent may think that the person is awake during this time. Sleepwalking, nightmare disorder, sleep terrors, sleep-related eating disorder, and sleep paralysis are examples of abnormal sleep behavior. These diseases are collectively called parasomnias.
