Periodic or rhythmic movement disorders (RMD) belong to a group of neurological disorders that involve abnormal movements or verbal events while a child sleeps.

A child with RMD exhibits symptoms of head rolling, body rocking, and headbanging. It’s possible for these behaviors to be confused with other disorders, such as epilepsy.
