A sleep-related eating disorder is a type of parasomnia, in which the unusual behavior seen during sleep is an attack of eating. This condition co-occurs with sleepwalking, with events seldomly remembered the next day. Patients may not consume foods they typically enjoy when awake; instead, they may choose foods higher in calories, unhealthy, or dangerous. In addition, they can unintentionally harm themselves and their surroundings while experiencing an episode.
