Rapid Eye Movement Sleep (REM Sleep)

Home Rapid Eye Movement Sleep (REM Sleep)
During the rapid-eye-movement (REM) sleep phase, breathing becomes more shallow and irregular, heart rate and blood pressure increase, and muscles in the body are paralyzed. Most dreams occur at this stage. The most important feature of this stage is that the brain functions are as active as in wakefulness.
